Starting Motor

Usage:

Remove & Install Starting Motor

1. Put identification marks on wires (1) that are connected to the starting motor for installation purposes.

2. Remove three bolts (2) and the washers that hold the starting motor to the flywheel housing. Remove the starting motor and gasket from the flywheel housing.

3. Remove the solenoid from the starting motor.

NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the starting motor.

4. Check the condition of the gasket used between the starting motor and the flywheel housing. If the gasket is damaged, use a new part for replacement.

5. Install the solenoid on the starting motor. Tighten the solenoid mounting bolts to a torque of 17.8 ± 3.7 N·m (158 ± 33 lb in).

6. Install the starting motor in the reverse order of removal.

7. Tighten all large terminal nuts on the starting motor to a torque of 30 ± 3 N·m (22 ± 2 lb ft).

8. Tighten all small terminal nuts on the starting motor to a torque of 2.6 ± 0.8 N·m (23 ± 7 lb in).
