Reverse Currents (EDC)- Calibrate

Usage:

Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts.

Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified.

The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped.

Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine.

To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.

  1. Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

  1. Move propel lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Rotate speed dial (2) to the MINIMUM position.

  1. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

  1. Move screed lift switch (4) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

  1. Engage screed lock mechanism (5) on both sides of the machine.

  1. Move screed lift switch (4) to the FLOAT position. Allow the tow arms to rest on screed locks (5) .

    Note: The screed lift switch on the inactive operator station must also be in the FLOAT position in order to lower the screed.

  1. Move screed lift switch (4) to the HOLD position.

  1. Move throttle control switch (6) to the HIGH IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second. The engine speed should increase to 2200 rpm.

  1. Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature on the operator display. Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43 ± 5.6 °C (110 ± 10 °F).

  1. Press home key (7) .

  1. Press down key (8) until "Service" is highlighted on the display screen.

  1. Press OK key (9) .

  1. Press down key (8) until "Calibrations" is highlighted on the display screen.

  1. Press OK key (9) .

  1. Press down key (8) until "Reverse Currents" is highlighted on the display screen.

  1. Press OK key (9) .

  1. Press OK key (9) in order to begin the calibration.

  1. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

  1. Rotate speed dial (2) to the midrange position.

  1. Move propel mode switch (10) to the PAVE position.

  1. Move propel lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Press OK key (9) .

    Note: If the display does not advance after pressing the OK key, observe the display and make sure that all required conditions are met. If all the conditions appear to be met but the display will still not advance, adjust speed dial (2). Adjust the speed dial by small increments to either side of the midrange position until the display will advance.

  1. Move parking brake switch (1) to the OFF position.

    Note: The parking brake switch on the inactive instrument panel must also be in the OFF position.

    Note: The machine will move with a high rate of speed. Allow adequate space during the next step.

  1. Move propel lever (3) to the REVERSE position.

  1. Display should read "Calibrating speed sensors".

    Note: Observe the display. When the speed sensors have been calibrated, the display will prompt the operator to move the propel lever to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Move the propel lever (11) to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Move propel lever (3) to the REVERSE position.

    Note: At this point, the system is performing the coarse calibration of the initial current for the propel pumps.

  1. Move propel lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Move propel lever (3) to the FULL REVERSE position.

  1. Display should read "Calibrating initial current for reverse pumps".

    Note: At this point, the system is performing the fine calibration of the initial current for the propel pumps.

  1. Move the propel lever to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. The display should now read "CALIBRATION COMPLETE". Push back key (11) to return to calibration screen.

  1. Push home key (7) in order to exit the calibration screen.

  1. Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

  1. Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

  1. After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (12) to the OFF position.
