Removal Procedure

Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed. Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death. Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.

Remove the extendable stick. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Extendable Stick - Remove".

1. Extend the rod of the extendable stick cylinder, as shown.

2. Disconnect tube assemblies (1) and (2). Remove clamps (3) and (4).

3. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (5). Remove pin (6).

4. Attach a suitable lifting device to the rod end of extendable stick cylinder (7). The weight of extendable stick cylinder (7) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb). Use the suitable lifting device in order to remove extendable stick cylinder (7) and place the rod end of extendable stick cylinder (7) onto Tooling (B).

5. Reposition the suitable lifting device onto extendable stick cylinder (7), as shown. Remove extendable stick cylinder (7).

(1) Lubricate the sealing lips with the lubricant that is being sealed.

(2) Apply Tooling (E) to the groove of the wiper seal.

(3) Lubricate the threads. Torque for the nut ... 700 ± 70 N·m (516 ± 51 lb ft)

(4) Lubricate the threads. Torque for the head ... 600 ± 130 N·m (443 ± 95 lb ft)

1. Attach a suitable lifting device to extendable stick cylinder (7). The weight of extendable stick cylinder (7) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb). Position extendable stick cylinder (7) partially into the stick and onto Tooling (B).

2. Reposition the suitable lifting device to the rod end of extendable stick cylinder (7), as shown. Install extendable stick cylinder (7) into the stick.

3. Install pin (6). Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (5).

4. Connect tube assemblies (1) and (2). Install clamps (3) and (4).

1. Install the extendable stick. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Extendable Stick - Install".
