  1. Position lower cap (39) on the upper frame. Hold the lower cap in place with bolts (37). Make sure that the lower cap is seated firmly against the upper frame.

  2. Lower the temperature of the lower bearing cup . Install the lower bearing cup so that the cup contacts lower cap (39).

  3. Lubricate the lower bearing cone and upper bearing cone (44) with clean oil. Install the bearing cones in the correct bores in the frame.

  4. Lower the temperature of upper bearing cup (43). Install upper bearing cup (43) so that the cup contacts upper bearing cone (44) that was installed in the previous step. Remove bolts (37) and lower cap (39).

  5. Install Tooling (H) on the lower bearing cone and on upper bearing cone (44) that was previously installed.

  6. Install lower cap (39), the shims, and upper cap (38) in the upper frame.

  7. Install three of bolts (37) so that each bolt is separated by 120 degrees. Tighten the bolts.

  8. Use a torque wrench and Tooling (H) to determine the amount of torque that is needed to turn upper bearing cone (44). As required, adjust the number of shims to achieve a rolling torque between 3 N·m (26 lb in) and 14 N·m (123 lb in).

  9. Remove bearing caps (38) and (39). Remove Tooling (H).

  10. Use Tooling (J) to install lip seal (41) in upper cap (38) so that the seal contacts the counterbore in the upper cap. Make sure that the sealing lip is facing inside the upper cap.

  11. Use Tooling (J) to install lip seal (42) in lower cap (39) so that the seal contacts the counterbore in the lower cap. Make sure that the sealing lip is facing toward the outside of the lower cap.

  12. Install spacer (40) in lower cap (39).

  13. Install the proper number of shims. Install upper cap (38), lower cap (39), and bolts (37).

  14. Install lower cap (31) and bolts (29). Make sure that the lower cap is seated firmly against the lower frame. Lower the temperature of lower bearing cup (36). Install lower bearing cup (36) so that the cup contacts lower cap (31).

  15. Lubricate the lower bearing cone and upper bearing cone (35) with clean oil. Install the bearing cones in the correct bores in the frame. Lower the temperature of upper bearing cup (34). Install upper bearing cup (34) so that the cup contacts upper bearing cone (35).

  16. Install Tooling (K) on upper bearing cone (35).

  17. Install lower cap (31), the shims, and upper cap (30) in the lower frame.

  18. Install three of bolts (29) so that each bolt is separated by 120 degrees. Tighten the bolts.

  19. Use a torque wrench and Tooling (K) to determine the amount of torque that is needed to turn upper bearing cone (35). As required, adjust the number of shims to achieve a rolling torque between 0.5 N·m (4.4 lb in) and 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  20. Remove upper caps (30) and (31). Remove Tooling (K).

  21. Use Tooling (L) to install lip seal (32) in upper cap (30) so that the seal contacts the counterbore in the upper cap. Make sure that the sealing lip is facing toward the outside of the upper cap.

  22. Use Tooling (L) to install lip seal (33) in lower cap (31) so that the seal contacts the counterbore in the lower cap. Make sure that the sealing lip is facing inside the lower cap.

  23. Install the proper number of shims. Install upper cap (30), lower cap (31), and bolts (29).

  24. Fasten a suitable lifting device onto the front frame. The weight of the front frame is approximately 2043 kg (4500 lb). Connect the loader frame to the non-engine end frame. Align the pin bores.

  25. Install upper pin (26) and bolt (25).

  26. Install plate (27) and bolts (28).

  27. Use a thickness feeler gauge to measure the gap between pin (26) and the surface of the upper boss, as shown. Record the measurement. Remove bolts (28) and plate (27).

  28. Tap pin (26) upward. Install shims under the plate of pin (26). Refer to the measurement that was obtained in the previous step.

  29. Push pin (26) downward and install bolts (24). Bolt (25) was previously installed.

  30. Install plate (27) and bolts (28). Tighten bolts (24) and (28).

  31. Install pin (22) in the aligned bores of the lower hitch. Install bolt (23).
