Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install".
  2. Remove the engine side guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guard - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) onto hydraulic tank (1). Attach an air supply hose onto Tooling (A). Apply 276 kPa (40 psi) to 414 kPa (60 psi) of air. This procedure will pull vacuum on the hydraulic system.

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (2) and (3) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (4) .

  1. Loosen bolts (5) .

  1. Remove nuts (6) .

  1. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto hydraulic oil cooler (7). The weight of hydraulic oil cooler (7) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (5). Remove hydraulic oil cooler (7) .

  1. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto oil cooler (7). The weight of hydraulic oil cooler (7) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

  1. Install bolts (5). Do not tighten bolts (5) at this time. Remove Tooling (B) .

  1. Install nuts (6). Tighten bolts (5) .

  1. Attach Tooling (A) onto hydraulic tank (1). Attach an air supply hose onto Tooling (A). Apply 276 kPa (40 psi) to 414 kPa (60 psi) of air. This procedure will pull vacuum on the hydraulic system.

  1. Connect hose assemblies (2) and (3) .

  1. Connect hose assembly (4) .

  1. Remove Tooling (A) after all connections are properly tightened.

End By:

  1. Install the engine side guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guard - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install".
