LED Diagnosis

(3) This LED pattern indicates an "Error code 3 CAN error".

(4) This LED pattern indicates an "Error code 5 address error".

This code is associated with the IQAN XT2 A0 joystick. The status indicator lights on the IQAN XT2 A0 module will be referenced in the troubleshooting of this code.

The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:

  • The status indicator on the module indicates an Error code 3 that is a result of a lack of power to the module.

  • The status indicator on the module indicates an Error code 3 that is a result of a disruption in the CAN bus connections.

  • The status indicator on the module indicates an Error code 5 that is a result of an address error.

Test Step 1. CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY FOR THE MODULE

  1. Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.

  1. Check the voltage at the mating connector pins on the IQAN XT2 A0 module from contact 15 (wire 200-BK) to contact 28 (wire 142-PK).

Expected Result:

The voltage measurement is approximately 24 VDC.

Results:

  • YES - The voltage measurement is approximately 24 VDC. The module power supply is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.

  • NO - The voltage measurement is not approximately 24 VDC. There is a problem with the voltage supply for the module.

Repair: The voltage supply circuit (wire 142-PK) for the module is open in the machine harness. Ensure that the IQAN XT2 A0 fuse is not open. Refer to the complete machine Electrical System Schematic. Examine all of the connections that are in the supply circuit between the fuse and the module. Ensure that the connections are clean, secure and in good condition. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.

    STOP

Test Step 2. CHECK THE CAN BUS CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.

  1. Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Inspect the machine harness connectors that are related to the circuits of the CAN bus. Ensure that the connector contacts are clean and tight.

  1. Disconnect the machine harness from all modules.

  1. At the machine harness connector for the module, measure the resistance from contacts IQAN XT2 A0-30 (wire K990-GN), IQAN XT2 A0-16 (wire K900-YL), IQAN XT2 A0-40 (wire K990-GN), and IQAN XT2 A0-26 (wire K900-YL) to all possible sources of ground.

Expected Result:

The resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms for each measurement.

Results:

  • OK - The resistance measurement is correct. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.

  • NOT OK - The resistance measurement is not correct.

Repair: There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between the CAN bus circuit and the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair the harness or replace the harness.

    STOP

Test Step 3. CHECK THE CAN BUS CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POSITIVE VOLTAGE.

  1. The key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.

  1. All modules remain disconnected from the machine harness.

  1. At the machine harness connector for the module, measure the resistance from each of the CAN bus connections to all possible sources of positive voltage.

Expected Result:

The resistance measurement should be greater than 5000 ohms for each measurement.

Results:

  • OK - The resistance is correct. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 4 .

  • NOT OK - The resistance is not correct.

Repair: There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between the CAN bus circuit and the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair the harness or replace the harness.

    STOP

Test Step 4. CHECK THE CAN BUS CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT.

  1. The key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.

  1. At the module, measure the resistance from each of the CAN bus connections to the corresponding CAN bus connections on the adjacent modules.

Expected Result:

There should be less than 5 ohms resistance for each measurement.

Results:

  • OK - The CAN bus circuit in the machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 5.

  • NOT OK - There is an open in the harness.

Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.

    STOP

Test Step 5. CHECK THE ADDRESS TAG FOR THE MODULE

  1. Inspect the address tag connectors. Ensure that the connector contacts are clean and tight.

  1. Verify that the number that is embossed on the address tag is a "0T".

Results:

  • NOT OK - The address tag is damaged or the address tag is not the correct tag.

Repair: Replace the address tag with a 202-5414 Resistor. If this resistor is not available, a temporary resistor can be used. The resistor value must be 432 Ω ± 1 %.

    STOP

  • OK - The address tag is undamaged and the address tag is the correct tag.

Repair: If the problem remains present, exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If conditions are not resolved, replace the module.

    STOP
