Drive Shaft (Upper) - Remove and Install

Usage:

R1700G SBR

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Remove and Install".

  1. Remove the two bolts and guard (1).

  2. Remove the four bolts and guard (2).

  3. Remove bolt (3) and the clamp.

  4. Remove the two bolts and guard (4).

  5. Remove the four bolts and guard (5).

  6. Attach a suitable lifting device to drive shaft (6). The weight of drive shaft (6) is approximately 20 kg (44 lb).

  7. Remove eight bolts (7) from drive shaft (6). Remove drive shaft (6).

Installation Procedure

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to drive shaft (6). The weight of drive shaft (6) is approximately 20 kg (44 lb). Install drive shaft (6) between the updrive gears and the transmission.

  2. Apply Tooling (A) and then apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (7). Install eight bolts (7). Tighten eight bolts (7) to a torque of 55 ± 7 N·m (41 ± 5 lb ft).

  3. Install guard (5) and the four bolts.

  4. Install guard (4) and the two bolts.

  5. Install the clamp and bolt (3).

  6. Install guard (2) and the four bolts.

  7. Install guard (1) and the two bolts.

End By:

  1. Remove the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Remove and Install".
