The four steering modes of the machine are "REAR", "CRAB", "COORDINATED", and "FRONT". The steering system for the front track is the only system on the machine that is completely controlled by hydraulics. In all four steering modes, the steering wheels control the oil flow to the front steering cylinder. The toggle switch on the instrument panel allows the rear steering to be manually controlled while the machine operates in the "REAR" mode. The machine ECM controls the rear steering in all other steering modes.
The auxiliary hydraulic system provides supply oil for the front and rear steering systems. The rear steering solenoids are located on the rear manifold. For additional information about the auxiliary hydraulic pump and the rear manifold, refer to the auxiliary system in this module.
