General Maintenance and Care for the Masts

Inspection and Cleaning

Inspect and clean the masts of the AccuGrade System when the masts are removed from the machine or when the masts are serviced. Use the list that follows in order to inspect the masts and clean the masts.

  • Check the connectors for corroded contacts or dirty contacts.

  • Check the connectors for stripped threads or otherwise damaged threads.

  • Check the lead screw assembly of the inner mast tube for excessive movement. The maximum allowable movement is 0.76 mm (0.03 inch).

  • Check the seal for the top inner tube for wear and damage.

  • Check the drain hole at the lower edge of the bottom mast casting.

  • Check the mounting hole for stripped threads or otherwise damaged threads.

  • Verify that the retaining ring is present and properly seated in the groove at the top of the inner mast tube.

  • Check the shock mount for the mast for damage, loose hardware, or worn parts. Refer to Illustration 1 for typical components to check for wear.

  • Clean the housing for the mast and the inner mast tube with any standard general purpose cleaner. This includes the following: glass cleaner, kitchen cleaner, foaming type cleaner and water and a mild detergent.

NOTICE

To prevent damage to the masts, Do Not use solvents to clean the masts. This includes alcohol, acetone, de-greasers, paint thinners, or other hydrocarbon base type solvents.

NOTICE

To prevent damage to the masts, Do Not apply any type of lubricants to the outside surface of the inner mast tube. The coating on the outside surface of the inner mast tube is self-lubricating.

Mechanical Maintenance

  • The masts must be cleaned, lubricated, and inspected in two year periods. This should be done more frequently if the AccuGrade System is used continuously or if the system is used in extreme environments.

Electrical Maintenance

  • The masts do not require periodic electrical maintenance. The masts only require software updates as new versions are released.

General Maintenance and Care for the GPS Receivers

Inspection and Cleaning

Inspect and clean the GPS Receivers of the AccuGrade System when the GPS Receivers are removed from the machine or when the GPS Receivers are serviced. Use the list that follows in order to inspect the GPS Receivers and clean the GPS Receivers.

  • Check the connectors for corroded contacts or dirty contacts.

  • Check the connectors for stripped threads or otherwise damaged threads.

  • Clean the GPS Receivers with glass cleaner or water and a mild detergent.

NOTICE

To prevent damage to the GPS Receivers, Do Not use solvents to clean the GPS Receivers. This includes alcohol, acetone, de-greasers, paint thinners, or other hydrocarbon base type solvents.

General Maintenance and Care for the ATS Target

Inspection and Cleaning

Inspect and clean the ATS Target of the AccuGrade System when the ATS Target are removed from the machine or when the ATS Target are serviced. Use the list that follows in order to inspect the ATS Target and clean the ATS Target.

  • Check the connectors for corroded contacts or dirty contacts.

  • Check the connectors for stripped threads or otherwise damaged threads.

  • Clean the ATS Target lenses with any of the following recommended items: an anti-static lens paper, a cotton wad and a lens brush.

Note: In extreme conditions, a mild detergent may be used to clean the lens.

NOTICE

To prevent damage to the ATS Target, Do Not use solvents to clean the ATS Target. This includes glass cleaners, alcohol, acetone, de-greasers, paint thinners, or other hydrocarbon base type solvents.

General Maintenance and Care for the Sonic Tracers

Inspection and Cleaning

Inspect and clean the sonic tracers of the AccuGrade System when the sonic tracers are removed from the machine or when the sonic tracers are serviced. Use the list that follows in order to inspect the sonic tracers and clean the sonic tracers.

  • Check the connectors for corroded contacts or dirty contacts.

  • Check the connectors for stripped threads or damaged threads.

  • Clean the sonic tracer with glass cleaner or water and a mild detergent.

  • Clean any dirt or debris from the end of the sonic tracer.

NOTICE
