NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to engine (30) and position engine (30). The weight of engine (30) is approximately 1134 kg (2500 lb). Install bolts (34). Position support (32). Install bolts (31) and (33). Tighten bolts (33) to a torque of 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  1. Install eight bolts (29) (not shown). Rotate the engine until a total of eight bolts (29) (not shown) are installed. Install plug (28) .

  1. Connect hoses (26) and (27) .

  1. Install tube (24). Install all mounting hardware to tube (24) .

  1. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner - Remove and Install".

  1. Install tube (23). Install all mounting hardware to tube (23) .

  1. Install tube (22). Install all mounting hardware to tube (22) .

  1. Tilt the cab downward. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cab - Tilt".

  1. Connect hose assemblies (21) .

  1. Position tube assembly (10) and tighten clamp (11) to a torque of 11 ± 1 N·m (97 ± 9 lb in).

  1. Connect harness assembly (9) and position tube assemblies (7) and (8) .

  1. Connect tube assemblies (7) and (8) .

  1. Connect hose assemblies (5) and hoses (6). Install all mounting hardware to hose assemblies (5) and hoses (6) .

  1. Position guard assembly (3) and install bolts (4) .

  1. Install hose (1) and tube (2) .

  1. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

  1. Charge the air conditioner system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant". Refer to Special Publication, NEDG5065, "Air Conditioning Tools".

End By:

  1. Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter and Oil Filter Base - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the crankshaft vibration damper and pulley. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Vibration Damper and Pulley- Remove and Install".
  3. Install the crankcase guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Guards - Remove and Install".
