Service Magazine, SEPD0726, 22 March 2004, "Correction to the Service Magazine, "New Planetary Parts Are Used to Reduce Wear of the Thrust Disc"". Disregard the article. Refer to the following information.

Description of Change: A new planetary gear and a new planetary shaft assembly are used in the low forward gear train of the large off-highway truck transmission. The new planetary gear has an improved surface finish on the end of the gear face. This will reduce the wear of the face of the thrust disc (A). The new planetary shaft assembly has repositioned lubrication holes near the thrust washer. This will also help to reduce wear of the thrust disc (A) .

Adaptable To: The new 230-7512 Planetary Gear (1) is a direct replacement for the former 140-7118 Planetary Gear. The new 271-5387 Shaft As (2) is a direct replacement for the former 140-7116 Shaft As and 230-7563 Shaft As. Refer to Table 1 for the effectivity. Refer to Illustration 1 for the location of the new components.

Note: Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly for the power train for the proper procedure to replace the planetary gear.
