PROBLEM
Without heat shielding, the wiring harnesses may be exposed to excessive temperatures from an exhaust leak that may cause harness damage on certain G3520C landfill engines. Heat shields are needed to protect the detonation and thermocouple wiring harnesses. If exhaust leak has occurred, perform REBE3547 if applicable. |

In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 9% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Install metal heat shields above the detonation and thermocouple harnesses to protect them from possible exhaust gas leaks. The shields attach to the cam covers with the harnesses routed underneath. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure. |

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. |
1) Remove the exhaust manifold shielding and insulation to allow better access to thermocouple and detonation wiring harnesses. 2) Move existing ladder clips to the lower threaded holes on cam covers. The ladder clips should be oriented on top of the bolt as shown in Image 1.1.1. The wiring harnesses should be installed on the bottom of the ladder clip using cable ties. Be sure to leave adequate length on the thermocouple wire to get around the shield. |
