Usage:
3300 Series Engines
In 3300 Series Engines, the connecting rods now have piston pin bores with a taper. The piston pin bearings also have a taper. This design increases the strength of the piston and the bearing. Special tools are needed to remove and/or install the bearings.
The 6V2050 Tapered Rod Tool Group is now available for use with the 5P8639 Press Group for removal and/or installation of the taper bearings in the connecting rods. The new 6V2050 Tapered Rod Tool Group is made of a 6V2049 Remover and Installer Adapter, a 6V3029 Spacer and a 5P8645 Pusher Adapter.

NOTE: Dealers who have the 6V100 Tool Arrangement need only order the 6V2049 Remover and Installer Adapter and the 6V3029 Spacer.
Instructions for the use of taper rod tool groups are in Special Instructions Form SMHS7295-01. Until a revision of this Special Instruction is made, add the information which follows to Special Instructions Form SMHS7295-01.
