Description Of Change: Several customers and dealers received a letter from Active Power (Piller) regarding obsolescence of components for the legacy UPS 250i and UPS 300 series of products.

The component is the primary control board (APC1), for the legacy 300 series Single Module System (SMS) and Multiple Module System (MMS) product. The APC1 board is available through Caterpillar parts system, however the boards will begin to become unavailable from the supplier.

Legacy 300 series product should begin migrating to the APC1+ boards as a replacement. This work can be completed as an update for the customer or as a repair in the occasion of an incident during operation at the discretion of the customer. This notice is being provided due to the critical nature of the UPS product and the desire for some customers to perform an upgrade prior to operational incidents. There is no concern with the APC1 boards currently in operation. The change is occurring due to parts unavailability.

Note: UPS which shipped as part of the pre-2.4 product series should contact the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) to verify compatibility of the APC1+ with the other components installed within the system.

With the upgrade to the APC1+ board the customer will receive improved monitoring and sensing speeds along with the ability to generate scope captures on events which can be downloaded by service technicians.

Note: Other UPS models such as the UPS 1000/1200 series (serial number CZS and CZT) will not be updated to the APC1+ boards.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

The service part numbers for the APC1 and APC1+ boards are listed in Table 1.
