Introduction

This Special Instruction describes the procedure to flash the ADEM 3 Engine Electronic Control Gp.

Read the entire Special Instruction. Do not perform any procedures or order any parts until you have read and understand the information contained in this publication.

Procedure

Refer to the following steps to load the application into the ECM.

    Engine ECM

  1. Verify that the 217-0113 Wiring Harness (A) is connected correctly.

    1. Plug the 9 Pin connector of the 217-0113 Wiring Harness into the communication adapter.

    2. Connect the black clip to "- VBatt" on the power supply.

    3. Connect the red clip to "+ VBatt" on the power supply.

  2. Connect the 328-2292 Harness (B).

    1. Plug the 9 Pin connector of the 328-2292 Harness into the 217-0113 Wiring Harness.

    2. Plug the 70 Pin Connector of the 328-2292 Harness into the ECM on the J1 connector (1).

  3. Turn on the power supply.

    Note: Voltage should read between 12V to 24V.

  4. Launch the Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool program.

  5. Navigate to the "WinFlash" section.

  6. When the ECM is detected, flash with the appropriate application.
