Use ventilation, exhaust at the arc, or both, to keep fumes and gases from your breathing area. Wear eye, ear and body protection before working. Protect yourself and others; read and understand this warning. Fumes and gases can be dangerous to your health. Ultraviolet rays from the weld arc can injure eyes and burn skin. The separately serviced ring seal and the expander ring must be assembled correctly into off-highway truck wheel and brake assemblies. The seal and the expander ring must be installed correctly in order to prevent brake cooling oil leakage into the differential.

Because the cross section size of the expander ring is the same size as the rear brake hub seal groove, the expander ring may be installed incorrectly. |

The seals may be installed into the rear wheel and the brake assemblies incorrectly. Refer to Illustration 1 in order to view the incorrect installation procedure. The following procedure will ensure that a reliable seal is retained between the rear hub and the retainer.

- Install seal ring (C) to brake hub (A). View Illustration 2 in order to view the installation of seal ring (C). In order to ensure that seal ring (C) is correctly installed, make sure that yellow mark (D) is facing outward. This orientation is required in order to achieve the necessary seal face load after seal (B) is installed.
- Assemble seal (B) to seal ring (C). Refer to Illustration 2 in order to view the assembly of seal (B) to seal ring (C) .
