Tightening sequence for type one cylinder head

1. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of the studs that are to be installed into the cylinder head. Tighten studs to a torque of 18 N·m (159 lb in).

2. Tighten the plated nuts to a torque of 44 N·m (32 lb ft) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 1.

   Tighten the nuts that are not plated to a torque of 50 N·m (37 lb ft) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 1.

Type Two Engines and 7BJ Engines

Note: The exhaust manifold can be retained with either nuts or bolts.

1. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of the studs that are to be installed into the cylinder head. Tighten studs to a torque of 18 N·m (159 lb in).

2. Tighten the nuts or bolts to a torque of 44 N·m (32 lb ft) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 2.
