(1) Grapple arm. (2) Grapple arm cylinder. (3) Accumulator arm. (4) Accumulator arm cylinder.

The main components of the holding system are the grapple arm, the grapple arm cylinder, the accumulator arm, and the accumulator arm cylinder.

The grapple arm and the accumulator arm can be independently controlled. The grapple arm and the accumulator arm are used to hold a tree after the tree is cut. The design of the accumulator arm allows additional trees to be collected while the previous tree is still held. The accumulator arm is an assembly that is composed of three main pieces: two arm assemblies and one rubber band.

Grapple cylinder (2) controls the movement of grapple arm (1). The grapple cylinder (2) closes grapple arm (2) onto the log during the felling of a tree.

Accumulator arm cylinder (4) controls the movement of accumulator arm (3). The accumulator arm cylinder (4) closes onto the log. This holds the tree in the head when the head cuts multiple trees.

The grapple arms and the accumulator arms are controlled by a valve on the machine. The maximum pressure that is required to open the arms on the machine is 25500 ± 1000 kPa (3700 ± 150 psi). The maximum pressure that is required to close the arms on the machine is 25500 ± 1000 kPa (3700 ± 150 psi).
