(A) Holes for depth measurement

(B) Bolt holes

(C) 2V-7092

For the procedure to install the bearings, refer to the Disassembly and Assembly for the machine.

  1. Measure the thickness of the retainer (C) at the three holes (A) . Calculate the average thickness of the retainer.

  1. Install the retainer (C) without shims. Use three bolts in the holes (B) .

  1. Tighten the three bolts to a torque of 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  1. Rotate the wheel for several revolutions.

  1. Torque the bolts and rotate the wheel again.

  1. Loosen the retainer bolts.

  1. Torque the retainer bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  1. Rotate the wheel for several revolutions.

  1. Continue the sequence of torquing the bolts and rotating the wheel until the bolt torque remains at 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  1. Measure the depth of the retainer (C) at the three holes (A) to the end of the spindle. Calculate the average depth.

  1. Subtract the average thickness of the retainer (C) in Step 1 from the average depth in Step 10. This is the thickness of the shim pack.

  1. Remove the retainer (C) from the spindle. Install the shim from Step 11. Include an additional 0.10 mm (0.004 inch) shim.

  1. Install the retainer (C) with all 8 bolts. Torque the 8 bolts to 150 ± 20 N·m (110 ± 15 lb ft).
