Steering Control

Usage:

R2900 5TW
Disconnect the steering frame lock and store in the unlocked position. The steering frame lock must be disconnected to steer the machine.

Reference: For information on disconnecting the steering frame lock, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock" for the machine that is being serviced.

Note: The machine's steering and joystick control functions will be disabled when the operator's station door is opened approximately 150 mm (6.0 inch). Ensure the operator's station door is closed before operating the machine.

STIC Steering Control

The directional steering of the machine is controlled by the STIC steering control lever.

When the STIC steering control lever is moved to the right of center, the machine steers to the right. When the STIC steering control lever is moved to the left of center, the machine steers to the left.

Note: When the STIC steering control lever is released, the lever will return to the center position. However, the machine will maintain the direction in which it was moving.

The STIC steering control lever must be moved past center in the opposite direction to which the machine was turning to return to straight ahead travel.

Left Turn (1) - Move the STIC steering control lever to the left of center in order to steer the machine to the left. The further the steering control lever is moved, the faster the machine steers to the left.

Right Turn (2) - Move the STIC steering control lever to the right of center in order to steer the machine to the right. The further the steering control lever is moved, the faster the machine steers to the right.

Wheel Steering Control

Steering Wheel (1) - The directional steering of the machine is controlled by the steering wheel. The direction the steering wheel is turned is the direction the machine will turn.

Left Turn - Move the steering wheel in a counterclockwise direction to steer the machine to the left. The further the steering wheel is turned in a counterclockwise direction, the sharper the left turn.

Right Turn - Move the steering wheel in a clockwise direction to steer the machine to the right. The further the steering wheel is turned in a clockwise direction, the sharper the right turn.
