Usage:
Before installation of the replacement engine, check the transmission mounting bolt holes in the rear face of the flywheel housing, on both the original engine and the Remanufactured Engine. Most engine applications use a flywheel housing that is similar to flywheel housing (1) above, that has one set of transmission mounting bolt holes (A). Some engine applications for GM "C7 Series" Truck Chassis require a flywheel housing that is similar to flywheel housing (2) above, that has an extra set of transmission mounting bolt holes (B). Bolt holes (B) are approximately 6° clockwise from bolt holes (A) to permit the correct installation angle of the transmission to the engine.
Failure to install the transmission in the correct position can result in binding (sticking) of the transmission linkage.
Most Remanufactured Engines are equipped with a flywheel housing similar to housing (1), with one set of transmission mounting bolt holes (A). If the original engine has a flywheel housing similar to housing (2) [with bolt holes (A) and (B)] and the Remanufactured Engine does not, it will be necessary to either exchange the flywheel housings between the two engines or install the correct new flywheel housing. See the specific Parts Book for part numbers.
If the flywheel housing on the Remanufactured Engine is changed for any reason, always install a new flywheel housing gasket and a new crankshaft seal group. See the specific Parts Book for parts needed. For other possible differences between the original engine and the recommended replacement Remanufactured Engine, refer to all Special Instructions that are sent with the recommended replacement Remanufactured Engine.
NOTE: If the replacement Remanufactured Engine is to be used to replace an original 3208 NA (naturally aspirated) engine in a GM "C7 Series" Truck Chassis, it will be necessary to also exchange the oil level gauge and guide between the Remanufactured Engine and the original engine. Failure to exchange the oil level gauge and guide will result in an incorrect oil level.
