Parking Brake Release Delay
In order to protect the parking brake, a two second delay is designed into the release of the front service brakes. When the parking brake switch is turned off, the service brakes remain engaged for two seconds.
On the following models, the front brakes are pressurized when the engine is running: D350E, D350E II, D400E and D400E II. On these machines, the front service brakes function as the parking brake.
Sequence of Operation
The following steps describe the sequence for releasing the parking brake when the engine is running and when the Parking Brake Switch is pulled out (Parking Brake Lamp "ON)."
- Apply the service brake.
- In order to release the parking brake, push down on the Parking Brake Switch Knob.
The Parking Brake Lamp will go out. While the parking brake releases, the front service brakes will be applied for two seconds.
Note: While the parking brake releases, the Parking Brake Lamp will not go out on the D350E II and the D400E II. On the D350E II and the D400E II, the Parking Brake Lamp will remain illuminated for two seconds after the Parking Brake Switch has been pushed down. This is because the Front Service Brakes function as the Parking Brake while the engine is running.
After two seconds, the Parking Brake is fully released and the Front Service Brakes are released. The machine is free to move.
