The variable shift control uses the engine speed in order to provide optional autoshift points. The variable shift control uses the position of three-position variable shift control switch (1) and the engine speed in order to determine the autoshift points for the transmission.
The three-position variable shift control switch has three inputs to the power train electronic control module (ECM). The three-position variable shift control switch allows the operator to select a range of operation for the variable shift control feature.
The three-position variable shift control switch has three settings: AGGRESSIVE position (2), MODERATE position (3), and ECONOMY position (4). The ECONOMY position allows the power train ECM to determine shift points at a low engine speed. Each of the remaining positions increases the shift speeds. The AGGRESSIVE position forces the transmission to shift with the engine at full throttle.
