General Information
C-9 发动机为直列六缸布置。 发动机的点火顺序为 "1-5-3-6-2-4"。 当从发动机的飞轮端观看发动机时，发动机的转向为逆时针。 发动机采用涡轮增压器。 发动机的缸径为 112 mm (4.4 in)，冲程为 149 mm (5.9 in)。 排量为 8.8 L (537 in3)。
C-9 发动机利用液压电子式单体喷油器（HEUI）进行喷油。 HEUI 消除了泵和油路系统内使用的许多机械部件。 HEUI 也加强了对正时和燃油空气混合的控制。 通过精确控制单体喷油器正时获得正时提前。 发动机转速由调整喷油持续时间来控制。 通过特殊的脉冲轮为电子控制模块（ECM）提供气缸位置和发动机转速检测信息。
发动机具有内置诊断，以便确保所有部件正常工作。 如果系统部件出现故障，可以通过仪表板上的检查发动机指示灯提醒操作员这个状况。 电子维修工具可用于读取出针对有故障的部件或状况的数字编码。 此外，巡航控制开关也可用于在检查发动机指示灯上闪烁代码。 间歇性故障会记录和储存在存储器内。
起动发动机
发动机 ECM 将自动提供起动发动机所需的正确燃油量。 发动机盘车中不要踩下油门。 如果发动机 20 秒内没有起动，应松开起动开关。 再次使用起动马达前，让起动马达先冷却两分钟。
