The retarder control calibration function is used in order to optimize retarder performance. This calibration procedure must be performed under the following conditions:
- Perform the calibration before the machine is delivered to the customer.
- Perform the calibration after replacing or servicing the ECM.
- Perform the calibration after the moving of an ECM from one machine to another machine.
- Perform the calibration after the retarder solenoid valve is replaced or the retarder solenoid valve is serviced.
- Perform the calibration after replacing or servicing any of the transmission clutches, seals, pumps, etc.
During the retarder control calibration procedure, the software for the system will detect the retarding capability. The retarding capability is detected by engaging the retarder solenoid at different levels until the expected drop in the engine speed is detected.
