When the feed roller arms open, oil in the piston end of the feed roller arm cylinders flows through a hydraulic hose assembly to the bottom of lubrication pump (2). The pressurized oil forces a piston in lubrication pump (2) upward. When the piston moves upward, lubricating oil is pumped to the shafts of the feed roller arms.
Needle valves (3) and (4) are used to adjust the flow of oil to each shaft. The needle valves are adjusted in order to ensure that both shafts receive the oil.
When the feed roller arms close, the hydraulic oil pressure on the piston is released. A spring in the lubrication pump forces the piston downward. The downward motion of the piston draws in oil from the lubrication tank on the harvester head.
