Harvester Head - Clean/Inspect

Usage:

HH45 CFE
The harvester head must be cleaned at the end of the day of operation. Cleaning the harvester head will ensure proper operation of the head. This will also reduce down time. Clean the head with compressed air and the 161-8956 Cleaning Hook.

------ WARNING! ------

It is possible for the frame of the harvester head to fall when it is parked in the vertical position. To avoid personal injury or death and equipment damage, wrap a chain around one leg of the frame and one leg of the yoke. Secure the chain in an appropriate manner.

----------------------

Secure the harvester head in the vertical position. Wrap a chain around the harvester head and the yoke. Use the chain in order to prevent the harvester head from falling if a hydraulic cylinder fails.

Fully open the delimbing knives, the feed roller arms, and the holding arms.

Thoroughly clean the following areas.

  1. The notches that are in the saw bar position cam should be cleaned and inspected for wear. Remove any dirt that may have accumulated in the notches.

Clean the saw bar tensioner all around. Clean the inside of the saw box.

Inspect the positioner for damage. The edges of the notches should be sharp and free of any defects that may have been caused by rocks or other objects. If damage to the saw bar position cam has occurred, improper information on the position of the saw bar may be recorded.

  1. The tensioner control valve handle rests in a channel. Clean this channel. Remove any dirt or grease that may have accumulated in the channel. Clean any dirt or grease that may have accumulated around the bar guide axles.

The channel for the tensioner control valve must be kept free of dirt and debris. This is necessary for the tension control valve to function properly. Any dirt in the channel may prevent the handle for the tensioner control valve from closing. If the tension control valve is not closed completely, the saw bar tensioner will not operate properly.
