Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

1. Lower the implement to the ground.

2. Remove six bolts (1) and the washers.

3. Remove guard (2).

4. Remove three bolts (3) and the washers.

5. Remove guard (4).

6. Attach a suitable lifting sling and Tooling (A) to center drive shaft (5).

7. Remove four bolts (6).

8. Remove four bolts (7).

9. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove center drive shaft (5). The weight of center drive shaft (5) is 73 kg (160 lb).

Installation Procedure

NOTICE
When the center drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint group, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

1. Clean the mating faces of the yokes and the drive shaft.

2. Use Tooling (A) in order to position center drive shaft (5) on the front drive shaft yoke. The weight of center drive shaft (5) is 82 kg (180 lb).

3. Install four bolts (7) finger tight.

4. Position center drive shaft (5) on the rear drive shaft yoke. Install four bolts (6) finger tight.

5. Tighten bolts (6) and (7) to a torque of 300 ± 30 N·m (222 ± 22 lb ft).

6. Lubricate the center drive shaft spline. For the correct procedure, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced.

7. Install guard (4).

8. Install three bolts (3) and the washers.

9. Install guard (2).

10. Install six bolts (1) and the washers.
