- Harvester Heads:
- HH55 (PIN: 3MZ1-UP)
- HH65 (PIN: 4RZ1-UP)
Description of Change: A second lubrication pump has been added to the feed roller arms. The addition of the second lubrication pump provides two independent lubrication systems for the pivot pins of the feed roller arms. The second pump improves lubrication to the bearings on the feed roller arms. The improved lubrication provides a longer service life of the bearing.
Adaptable To: The new 183-3742 Lubrication Pump is effective with HH55 (PIN: 3MZ219-UP) and HH65 (PIN: 4RZ269-UP) Harvester Heads. The new pump is adaptable to first production of the listed harvester heads.

- Remove all of the lines that are connected to the lubrication oil tank.
Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure. Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury. Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak. |
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Remove the bolts that are shown in the above illustrations. Remove the lubrication oil tank.

- Remove the existing lubrication pump assembly and remove the block for the oil supply to the saw chain.
- Position the plate on the tank. The position is shown in illustration 4. Mark the holes.
Personal injury or death can result from fumes, gases and ultraviolet rays from the weld arc. Welding can cause fumes, burn skin and produce ultraviolet rays. Keep your head out of the fumes. Use ventilation, exhaust at the arc, or both, to keep fumes and gases from your breathing area. Wear eye, ear and body protection before working. Protect yourself and others; read and understand this warning. Fumes and gases can be dangerous to your health. Ultraviolet rays from the weld arc can injure eyes and burn skin. Electric shock can cause death. Read and understand the manufacturer's instructions and your employer's safety practices. Do not touch live electrical parts. - Remove the plate and drill four M6 holes in the tank for the mounting bolts.
- Weld the manufactured plate to the lubrication oil tank. The position is shown in illustration 4. Achieve a weld penetration of 3 mm (0.12 inch). Weld around the entire edge of the manufactured plate in order to prevent the leaking of lubrication oil.
- Drill a 28 mm (1.125 inch) hole through the tank in the center of the manufactured plate.
- Clean the lubrication oil tank. Remove all of the abrasive dust. Also remove all of the slag buildup and all of the weld splatter. Be sure that all the surfaces that contact fluid are free of corrosion.
- Paint the modified areas in order to prevent corrosion.
