------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.

The machine can move suddenly in the forward or reverse direction when adjustments are made to the drive system.

To avoid machine movement, make sure that the machine is completely raised off of the ground and properly supported.

Make sure that the area is clear of personnel and equipment while testing and adjusting.

----------------------

  1. Stop the machine. Apply the parking brake.

  1. In order to hold the front frame and the rear frame rigid, install the steering frame lock pin.

  1. Block the front drum securely.

    (A) Jack stands.

  1. Place the rear of the machine on jack stands so that the wheels are not in contact with the ground. Place one jack stand on each side of the machine at the rear of the machine under the frame. Use tooling (A) in order to support the machine.

  1. With the help of a assistant, rotate both wheels in the forward direction. The wheels will stop after all the play in the power train has been eliminated.

  1. While the assistant holds the right tire securely in the forward direction, rotate the left wheel in the reverse direction.

Note: The left wheel should rotate in the reverse direction. You should hear a slight clicking sound when the tire is rotated.

  1. Stop the rotation of the left wheel. Then rotate the left wheel in the forward direction. The NoSPIN differential should lock both tires together in the forward direction.

  1. With the help of a assistant, rotate both wheels in the reverse direction. The wheels will stop after all the play in the power train has been eliminated.

  1. While the assistant holds the right tire securely in the reverse direction, rotate the left wheel in the forward direction.

Note: The left wheel should rotate in the forward direction. You should hear a slight clicking sound when the tire is rotated.

  1. Repeat steps 5 to 9. Hold the left tire securely and rotate the right tire.

Note: The wheels should disengage easily and the wheels should rotate freely. When the wheels are rotating there should be a slight clicking sound. The NoSPIN differential is functioning properly.

  1. If the wheels do not rotate freely the differential should be tested under load.

  1. Lower the machine. Remove the steering frame lock pin and the blocks.

  1. Test the NoSPIN differential under load. Drive the machine up to a solid object that is on gravel or loose dirt. Attempt to spin both wheels at the same time. Perform the test in forward and Reverse.

Note: Do not operate the machine if both wheels of the NoSPIN differential equipped axle are not driving.

  1. Drive the machine in a tight circle in both directions. Make sure that the machine is on a flat surface with good traction. Perform this turn in forward and reverse in order to be sure that the outside wheel does not scuff the ground. A slight clicking sound is normal when you make a turn. The sound of the gear engagement is normal when the turn is completed.

  1. If the machine does not pass the tests, repair NoSPIN differential or replace the NoSPIN differential.

Note: The parking brake on the CS-431C is located on the rear axle. When you place the rear of the machine on jack stands the parking brake will no longer hold the machine.

  1. Place the rear of the machine on jack stands so that the wheels are not in contact with the ground. Place one jack stand on each side of the machine at the rear of the machine under the frame. Use tooling (A) in order to support the machine.

Note: The parking brake on the rear axle must be manually released before the following test can be performed.

  1. In order to release the brakes, use the FT-1845 Pump Group .

  1. Plug the main pressure hose (6) .

  1. Turn the handle of the bypass valve (4) to the CLOSED position.

  1. Observe the opening pressure of the relief valve (1) while you operate the pump handle (3) .

    NOTICE

Possible brake piston seal damage could result without checking the relief valve. The opening pressure must be checked and adjusted before making a connection.

  1. Adjust the opening pressure for the relief valve (2) to 1379 kPa (200 psi). Turn the handle of the bypass valve (4) to the OPEN position.

  1. Remove the adapters from the end of the pressure hose (7). Install the 003-9514 Pipe Coupling and 8C-6867 Connector on the end of hose (7) .

    (8) Brake. (9) Brake line. (10) Brake and shift valve.

  1. Disconnect the brake line (9) at the brake and shift valve (10) that runs to the rear axle. In order to prevent the loss of brake fluid, install the 179-4435 plug into the brake and shift valve.

  1. Connect the brake line (9) to the pressure hose (7) for the hand pump.

  1. Turn the handle for the bypass valve (4) to the CLOSED position.

  1. Operate the pump handle in order to produce a pressure rise. The seal is seated when the pressure rises to the maximum value. The parking brake should be released.

  1. With the help of a assistant, rotate both wheels in the forward direction. The wheels will stop after all the play in the power train has been eliminated.

  1. While the assistant holds the right tire securely in the forward direction, rotate the left wheel in the reverse direction.

Note: The left wheel should rotate in the forward direction. You should hear a slight clicking sound when the tire is rotated.

  1. Repeat steps 17 to 21.

  1. Turn the handle of the bypass valve (4) to the OPEN position. Disconnect the pump (5). Remove all tooling. Connect the brake line (9) .

  1. Lower the machine. Remove the steering frame lock pin and the blocks.

  1. Test the NoSPIN differential under load. Drive the machine up to a solid object that is on gravel or loose dirt. Attempt to spin both wheels at the same time. Perform the test in forward and Reverse.
