Description of Change: Some 3054 engines in backhoe loaders now use a nonmetallic thermostat housing. The temperature sender and the wire harness changed in order to accommodate the new housing.
The temperature switch changed temporarily.
Adaptable To: The 171-1076 Housing (Nonmetallic) replaces the 163-5591 Housing (Metallic). See Table 1 for the specific changes. All parts will continue to be serviced. See Table 3 for the effectivity of this change.

The 177-4599 Temperature Switch replaced the 6T-2665 Temperature Switch. The effectivity of the 177-4599 Temperature Switch is listed in Table 4.
The 6T-2665 Temperature Switch replaced the 177-4599 Temperature Switch. The 6T-2665 Temperature Switch requires the 183-2530 Wire in order to connect to the 178-3771 Harness .

All electrical components are compatible. Additional harnesses may be necessary in order to connect the harness to the temperature sender or to the temperature switch. The former components were grounded to the thermostat housing.
Note: The temperature sender and the temperature switch must be properly grounded to the harness or to a metallic housing.
- Identify each part. Check the following parts: thermostat housing, the harness, temperature switch and the temperature sender.
- Check Table 5 if an adapter for the harness is required.
