Components of the Parking Brake (1) Brake Pack (2) Coupler (Gear Selector) (3) Piston (Gear Selector) (4) Large Spring (Shifter) (5) Parking Brake Spring |
A switch on the operator console allows the parking brake to be functional. When the operator depresses the brake pedal, the parking brake will be set.
In order to engage the parking brake, press downward on the parking brake knob on the operator console. At the same time, the piston pump is destroked. The brake valve is de-energized. This function opens the brake port on the planetary to the tank. The force of the parking brake spring (5) overrides the oil pressure. The parking brake spring (5) moves piston (3). The parking brake spring (5) moves to the right in order to engage the brake pack (1). This function will stop the machine.
In order to disengage the parking brake, set the propel lever to NEUTRAL position. Pull out the parking brake knob and move the propel lever to the FORWARD position. At the same time, the brake valve is energized. This function connects the brake port on the planetary to the auxiliary pressure. The oil pressure overcomes parking brake spring (5) and piston (3) moves to the left in order to disengage the parking brake.
