Description

In this mode the technician can check the outputs of the Electronic Monitoring Center (EMC) module without using additional testing equipment. After the technician selects an output, the display area of the MPM will indicate if the output is functioning. The technician can turn the output ON and OFF. All EMC outputs are assigned a unique four digit parameter ID number (P _ _ _ ). For a list of all the Mode 4 parameter ID numbers, see the Mode 4 Parameter Identification chart.

When an output is selected, the actual status of the output at the EMC is shown on readout (19). "Hi" means the output is ON. "Lo" means the output is OFF.

Note: The "Hi" and "Lo" indications only mean that the EMC is providing the ON or OFF signals for the output component. The technician must confirm that the output component is actually turning ON and OFF.

Note: If during troubleshooting it is found that an output does turn ON and OFF, it is likely that the corresponding input circuit is at fault.

Note: If a short circuit exists when an output is ON, the selected parameter ID number on readout (1) changes to fault code F201. The F201 fault code is only shown when the output is ON.

Procedure To Use Mode 4

  1. Enter the EMC output diagnostic mode (Mode 4):

    1. Turn the key start switch from OFF to ON.

    1. Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds.

    1. Press "Digit Set Key" (2) until Readout (1) shows "_ _ _ 4".

    1. Press and hold "Setup/Select Key" (4) for three seconds in order to enter Mode 4.

  1. Determine the parameter ID number of the output that is to be checked. See the Mode 4 Parameter Identification Chart. Press and release "Digit Set Key" (2) until the desired parameter ID number is showing on Readout (1) .

  1. Press "Start/Stop/Reset Key" (5) in order to turn the output ON or OFF. The display areas will operate as described in the preceding Description section. (Hi = ON, Lo = OFF).

  1. To return the EMC to service mode selection, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) one time. To return the EMC to normal operation, press "Exit/Mode Key" (6) two times.
