Rear Drive Shaft - Remove and Install

Usage:

D350E II 2XW

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from driveline torque windup under load.

Unequal wheel speed can result in driveline torque windup which can cause driveline components to be under load during disassembly.

Relieve the driveline torque windup before disassembly.

  1. Release the driveline torque windup by raising either side of the machine until the wheels are off the ground. Lower the wheels back to the ground.

  2. Chock the wheels in order to stabilize the machine for maintenance.

  5. Remove the lip type seal (6) from the front section (4) of drive shaft (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Note: Use caution during the installation of the bolts that secure the drive shaft in the machine. The threads of the bolts are very easily stripped if the bolts are not installed correctly.
