Transmission Oil Cooler - Remove

Usage:

D350E II 2XW

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR3402, "Fuel Tank - Remove".

  2. Remove the engine oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Cooler - Remove".

  3. Remove the brake oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Brake Oil Cooler - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

To prevent dirt and contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected.

This action also lessens the chance of oil spills.

  1. Remove drain plug (1) and drain transmission oil cooler (2) into an appropriate container. Remove the washer from the drain plug.

  2. Remove eight bolts (3), the washers, and four half clamps (4) that secure two transmission lines (5) to transmission oil cooler (2). Remove the O-rings from the transmission oil lines.

  3. Remove two bolts (6) and the washers that secure bracket (7) to bonnet (8).

  4. Remove two bolts (9) and the washers that secure bracket (10) to the engine.

  5. Attach the appropriate lifting straps and a hoist to transmission oil cooler (2). Remove four bolts (11) that secure bonnet (8) to the engine.

  6. Remove four bolts (12) from tube assembly (13). Separate the tube assembly from bonnet (8). Remove the O-ring from the tube assembly.

  7. Remove the transmission oil cooler and the bonnet from the machine. The weight of the assembly is 47 kg (104 lb). Remove the two gaskets from the machine.

  8. If necessary, remove twelve bolts (14) that secure each side of the transmission oil cooler to the bonnets. Remove the gaskets. Use an appropriate sized dowel rod in order to clean coolant tubes (15) in transmission oil cooler (2).
