Crankshaft Vibration Damper and Pulley - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove".

  2. Remove the alternator belt. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "V - Belts - Remove and Install".

  3. Remove the fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan and Fan Drive - Remove".

  1. Remove two bolts (1) that secure crankshaft damper and pulley (2) to the crankshaft.

  2. Install two 5/8 - 18 guide bolts. Use locking pliers in order to tighten the guide bolts.

  3. Remove remaining bolts (1) that secure crankshaft damper and pulley (2) to the crankshaft.

  4. Use a pry bar to push crankshaft damper and pulley (2) forward. Install an appropriate nylon lifting sling and a hoist. Remove the guide bolts.

  5. Remove the crankshaft damper and pulley from the machine. The crankshaft damper and pulley weighs 41 kg (90 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Use an appropriate nylon lifting sling and a hoist to place crankshaft damper and pulley (2) into position. The crankshaft damper and pulley weighs 41 kg (90 lb). Install two 5/8 - 18 guide bolts on the crankshaft. Use locking pliers in order to tighten the bolts. Position the crankshaft damper and pulley onto the guide bolts and remove the lifting strap and the hoist.

  2. Install four bolts (1) that secure crankshaft damper and pulley (2) to the crankshaft.

    Note: Lubricate the threads of the bolts with engine oil.

  3. Remove two 5/8 - 18 guide bolts.

  4. Install remaining bolts (1) that secure crankshaft damper and pulley (2) to the crankshaft.

    Note: Lubricate the threads of the bolts with engine oil.

End By:

  1. Install the fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan and Fan Drive - Install".

  2. Install the alternator belt. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "V- Belts - Remove and Install".

  3. Install the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove".
