836G Landfill Compactor

The hydraulic tank is located on the right side of the machine.

Note: The hydraulic tank for the 836G Landfill Compactor has a guard plate that protects the hydraulic tank. The guard plate must be opened in order to access the hydraulic oil filter. Remove three bolts that hold the guard plate in position. The guard plate may be swung open.

  1. Hydraulic filter (2) is located on the front of the hydraulic oil tank. Use a strap type wrench to remove the filter. Dispose of the used filter properly.

  2. Remove hydraulic oil filler cap (1). Remove the strainer from the filler opening. Wash the strainer in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Inspect the strainer for damage. Replace the strainer, if necessary.

  3. Install the strainer in the filler opening. Clean the filler cap and install the filler cap.

  4. Clean the filter mounting base. Make sure that all of the used gasket is completely removed.

  5. Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic oil to the gasket of the new filter.

  6. Install the new filter by hand. When the gasket contacts the filter mounting base, tighten the filter by an additional 3/4 turn.

  7. Start the engine and run the engine at low idle. Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks.

  8. Check the hydraulic oil level.

Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check" for the correct procedure.
