制动器空气中继阀位于机架上部燃油箱后面。 当启用行车制动器或减速器时,制动器空气中继阀 (1) 将启动全部三个制动器主油缸。 当自动减速器控制系统(ARC)启用制动器时,制动器空气中继阀 (2) 将使三个制动器主油缸全部启动。 制动器空气系统 (3) 的压力保护阀可以防止当 ARC 中继阀发生故障时气压全部流失。

当踩下行车制动器踏板或使用手动减速器时,制动器空气中继阀 (1) 将收到信号压力。 在使用自动减速器控制系统(ARC)时,制动器空气中继阀 (2) 将收到信号压力。

当踩下行车制动器踏板或使用手动减速器时,信号压力会发送至制动器空气中继阀 (1) 的控制通道。 这将打开制动器空气中继阀 (1) 中的内阀。 这样,主储气罐中的空气可以流经制动器空气中继阀 (1) , 进入制动器主油缸的空气室。 然后,制动器主油缸接合制动器。

在使用 ARC 时,信号压力会输送至制动器空气中继阀 (2) 的控制通道中。 这将打开制动器空气中继阀 (2) 中的内阀。 主储气罐中的气流将不断流至制动器空气系统 (3) 的压力保护阀,直到气压达到接入压力为止。 当气压达到接入压力时,制动器空气系统 (3) 的压力保护阀将会打开。 这样,空气即可流至制动器空气中继阀。 进入制动器主油缸的空气室。 然后,制动器主油缸接合制动器。

制动器空气中继阀 (1) 和 (2) 的释放方式相同。 当释放制动器踏板或者无需减速时,将停止向制动器空气中继阀的控制通道发送信号压力。 此时,制动器空气中继阀中的内阀将移动,阻止主储气罐输送的气流。 在制动器主油缸的空气室接收不到气流时,就会释放制动器。

前、后主油缸上各有一个双止回阀。 双止回阀使制动器空气中继阀 (2) 和 (1) 可以共用同一空气管线,以连接至制动器主油缸。
