  1. Be sure that all the parts are clean. Inspect the parts for wear or damage. If necessary, replace the parts that are worn or damaged.

  1. Use Tooling (A), and install ring (2) in retainer (1) .

  1. Use Tooling (A), and install lip seal (4) in the hub. The lip of the seal must be toward the inside of the hub. Place clean oil on the lip of the seal.

  1. Install 15 pins (3) in hub (5) .

  1. Place retainer (1) in position on the hub, and install the 15 bolts that hold the hub in place. Evenly tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 ± 15 N·m (100 ± 11 lb ft).

  1. Remove Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) from the final drive.

  1. In order to assemble the planetary carriers, see Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive Assembly" in this module.

  1. Place inner sun gear (6) in position in the planetary carriers, and install Tooling (E) in order to hold the sun gear in place.

  1. Install large O-ring seal (8) and small O-ring (9) .

  1. Use a hoist, and attach Tooling (D) to the planetary carrier, as shown.

  1. Place the planetary carrier in position on hub (7). Align the gears, and slide the planetary carrier in the hub. Push the planetary carrier into the hub until the planetary carrier is approximately 25.4 mm (1 inch) from the hub.

  1. Thread in three bolts Tooling (F). Thread the bolts in 25.4 mm (1 inch) in order to support the planetary carrier, as shown. Remove Tooling (D) .

  1. Install bolts (10). Remove Tooling (F), and install the last three bolts that hold the planetary carrier to the hub. Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 475 ± 50 N·m (350 ± 37 lb ft).

  1. Remove Tooling (E) .

  1. Use Tooling (G), and install the outer axle. Be sure that the thrust button that is located between the inner axle and the outer axle is installed in the end of the outer axle.

  1. Install retainer (11) .

  1. Install the O-ring seal in cover (13). Install cover (13) .

  1. Drain plug (12) must be toward the bottom of the final drive. Fill the final drive with oil until the oil is to the bottom of the drain plug hole. Refer to the Operation And Maintenance Guide for the correct type of oil and the capacity.

End By: Install the counterweight on the right hand side of the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Counterweight - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
