Power Take-Off (PTO) Pressure Tests - Test and Adjust

Usage:

45 1DR

Test for the Pilot Pressure

Note: The charge pressure of the transmission should be tested before the pressure of the PTO is tested. If the charge pressure of the transmission is incorrect, the pressure of the PTO will be affected. Refer to System Operation and Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Tests".

  1. Connect an 8T-0854 Pressure Gauge to nipple assembly (1) and (2).

  1. Start the Engine. Warm the oil to 60°C (140°F).

  1. Set the engine speed to 1900 rpm. The pressure reading on the gauge that is connected nipple assembly (1) should be 1415 ± 110 kPa (205 ± 15 psi).

    Illustration 2g00504413

  1. If the pressure is above 1830 ± 70 kPa (265 ± 10 psi), orifice (3) in the right end of the valve housing is plugged.

  1. The pressure on the gauge that is connected to nipple assembly (2) should be 0 kPa (0 psi).

Note: This pressure is not the brake pressure for the PTO.

  1. Start the Engine. Warm the oil to 60°C (140°F).

  1. Set the engine speed to 1900 rpm. The pressure reading on the gauge that is connected nipple assembly (1) should be 1415 ± 110 kPa (205 ± 15 psi).

  1. The pressure on the gauge that is connected to nipple assembly (2) should be 0 kPa (0 psi).

  1. Engage the PTO. The Pressure reading on the gauge that is connected to nipple assembly (1) should drop to 0 kPa (0 psi).

  1. The pressure reading on the gauge that is connected to nipple assembly (2) should modulate from 0 kPa (0 psi) to 690 kPa (100 psi) in 1.5 seconds. After 1.5 seconds, the pressure should rise immediately to 1830 ± 70 kPa (265 ± 10 psi).
