583R Pipelayer Machine Systems Caterpillar

Implement Pump - Remove

Usage:

583R 2XS

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the main drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1807-01, "Main Drive Shaft - Remove and Install" that is for 583R Pipelayer.

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve pressure.

----------------------

  1. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system by moving the hydraulic control levers to all positions. Then, loosen the filler cap slowly. The filler cap is located on the top of the hydraulic oil tank.

  1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation And Maintenance Manual, SEBU7109, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the proper draining procedure. Refer to Operation And Maintenance Manual, SEBU7109, "Refill Capacities" for the proper hydraulic tank capacity.
