  1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

  2. Verify that all of the components of the water temperature regulator are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

  3. Use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install lip seal (10) in the regulator cover assembly. Install the lip seal so that the lip is facing the inside of the regulator cover assembly.

  4. Install water temperature regulator (8) in the regulator cover assembly.

    Note: Steps 5 through 7 are for the installation of the water temperature regulator on the right side of the engine.

  5. Install regulator cover gasket, regulator cover assembly (7) and the three bolts.

  6. Install the gasket, outlet elbow (6), the two bolts and the washer on the regulator cover assembly.

  7. Position hump hose (5) on the inlet tube assembly. Tighten the clamps.

    Note: Steps 8 through 12 are for the installation of the water temperature regulator on the left side of the engine.

  8. Install regulator cover gasket, regulator cover assembly (3) and the three bolts.

  9. Apply 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound to the bore and the O-ring seal in outlet elbow (2).

  10. Install a gasket and outlet elbow (2) on regulator cover assembly (3) and engage with tube (4). Install the two bolts on outlet elbow (2).

  11. Position hump hose (1) on the inlet tube assembly. Tighten the clamps.

  12. Position the wire harness over regulator cover assembly (3). Install two new tie straps.

  13. Refill the radiator. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SENR7092, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
