  1. Verify that all components of the radiator are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

  2. Inspect all components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

  3. Install Tooling (A) on radiator (21). Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A). Secure the lifting device to a hoist. Lower radiator (21) into position. The weight of radiator (21) is 1203 kg (2651 lb).

  4. Install two bolts (25), the washers and cap (26) on the lower radiator mount. Repeat the installation for the remaining lower radiator mount on the opposite side of the truck.

  5. Install two bolts (24), the washers, and the nuts on the upper radiator mount. Repeat the installation for the remaining upper radiator mount on the opposite side of the truck.

  6. Install baffle (23) to the front bumper with five bolts (22) and the washers.

  7. Attach a suitable lifting device to fan guard assembly (19) in order to support the fan guard assembly while the lower bolts are installed. Secure the lifting device to a hoist. Position fan guard assembly (19) for installation. The weight of fan guard assembly (19) is 49 kg (108 lb).

  8. Install 16 bolts (20) and the washers to fan guard assembly (19). Tighten bolts (20) to a torque of 25 ± 6 N·m (18 ± 4 lb ft).

  9. Connect the bracket (18) to the fan guard assembly with bolt (17) and the washers.

  10. Install two new tie straps (15) in order to connect wiring harness (14) to the clips on the upper radiator tank. Connect two coolant temperature sensors (16) at the electrical connection.

  11. Connect elbow (13) and the gasket to the upper radiator tank with four bolts (12) and the washers.

  12. Connect elbow (11) and the gasket to the upper radiator tank with four bolts (10) and the washers.

  13. Connect the wiring harness to the radiator with new tie straps (9).

  14. Connect elbow (8) and the gasket to the lower radiator tank with four bolts (7).

  15. Connect elbow (5) and the gasket to the lower radiator tank with four bolts (6).

  16. Use two people to remove refrigerant condenser (2) from the side of the truck. Install eight bolts (3), and the washers to refrigerant condenser (2). Install refrigerant condenser (2) to the radiator with four bolts (1) and the washers. Connect the hose assemblies to the radiator core with four bolts (4), the washers and the clips.

  17. Refill the cooling system with coolant. The capacity of the cooling system is 1895 L (500 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7173, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.

  18. If the refrigerant hoses were disconnected from the refrigerant condenser, Charge the air conditioning system. Refer to Air Conditioning and Heating Testing and Adjusting, SENR5664, "Refrigerant System - Charge".

End By:

  1. Install the Cowling. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1486, "Cowling (Radiator) - Remove and Install".
