Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components. At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin. |
- Position a suitable container under the engine oil filter assemblies.

Illustration 1 g00478088 - Use Tooling (A) in order to remove two engine oil filter assemblies (1) from oil filter base assembly (2). Put identification on five bolts (3) and the washers. Remove bolt (3). Position hose assembly (4) out of the way.

Illustration 2 g00478089 - Remove the four remaining bolts (3) and the washers. Disconnect cable assembly (5). Remove oil filter base assembly (2) and two O-ring seals from the machine.
- If necessary, remove two taperlock studs (6) from oil filter base assemblies (1).

- Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
- Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Illustration 3 g00478089 - If taperlock studs (6) were removed, apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of taperlock studs (6). Install two taperlock studs (6) to oil filter base assemblies (1). Tighten taperlock studs (6) to a torque of
80 ± 14 N·m (59 ± 10 lb ft) . - Position oil filter base assembly (2) and the two O-ring seals, as shown. Position cable assembly (5), as shown. Install four bolts (3) and the washers.

Illustration 4 g00478088 - Position hose assembly (4), as shown. Install the remaining bolt (3).
- Lubricate the O-ring seal on the engine oil filter assembly with clean engine oil. Install two engine oil filter assemblies (1) onto oil filter base assembly (2). Tighten engine oil filter assembly (1) until the O-ring seal contacts oil filter base assembly (2). Tighten oil filter assemblies (1) by an additional three quarters of a turn.
- Check the level of the engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Level - Check" for the correct procedure to check the engine oil level.
