Diameter Sensor - Inspect
The diameter sensor must be inspected daily. The inspection procedure must be performed in order to ensure that the diameters of the logs are measured correctly. An example of a diameter inspection chart is shown in Illustration 3. Perform the following procedure to inspect the diameter sensors.
- Select a straight tree with a circular cross section. The tree should have a limited number of branches.
- In the operating mode, process the tree. Lay the logs in order for easy identification.
Note: You should cut at least three logs for the inspection.
- Press "8" in order to view the diameters of the cut logs. A printout of the list can be made by pressing "9".
- Measure the top diameter of each log. Create a table that is similar to Table 1 of the "SHOWED DIAMETERS" on the display screen and the "MEASURED DIAMETERS". Subtract the "SHOWED DIAMETER" from the "MEASURED DIAMETER" for each log. Enter the difference in the table.

Table 1 Log Number     Measured Diameter     Showed Diameter     Difference     Nr 1     450 mm     450 mm     0 mm     Nr 2     353 mm     350 mm     +3 mm     Nr 3     251 mm     250 mm     +1 mm     Nr 4     98 mm     100 mm     -2 mm
- For each log, follow the "0" line until the value for the "SHOWED DIAMETER" is reached. Mark the "DIFFERENCE" from Table 1 on the millimeter line. Refer to Illustration 1.

- When a minimum of 20 logs have been marked on the chart, draw a smooth line on the chart. Draw the line through the middle of the points. If the drawn line does not fall on the "0" line, the diameter sensor must be calibrated.
