Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the steering links. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Link - Remove" for the correct procedure.

1. Remove hose assembly (1) and fitting (3).

2. Remove hose assembly (2) and fitting (4).

3. Use Tooling (A) to support the weight of center arm (8). The center arm weighs approximately 165 kg (364 lb).

4. Support the weight of pin (7). The pin weighs approximately 11 kg (24 lb).

5. Remove bolts (5) and lock (6).

6. Remove pin (7).

7. Remove center arm (8).

8. Remove shims (9).

9. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing (10).

10. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing (11).

Installation Procedure

Note: When bearings (10) and (11) are installed, lower the temperatures of the bearings to approximately −45°C (−49°F).

1. Use Tooling (B) to install bearing (11).

2. Use Tooling (B) to install bearing (10).

3. Install shims (9).

4. Use Tooling (A) to support the weight of center arm (8). The center arm weighs approximately 165 kg (364 lb).

5. Install center arm (8).

   Note: When pin (7) is being installed, align the slot in the pin with the position of lock (6). The slot will be difficult to align after the pin is installed.

6. Support the weight of pin (7). The pin weighs approximately 11 kg (24 lb).

7. Install pin (7).

8. Install lock (6) and bolts (5).

9. Install hose assembly (2) and fitting (4).

10. Install hose assembly (1) and fitting (3).
