Front Wheel Oil - Change

Usage:

793B 1HL
Note: The oil change interval for the front wheel can be determined with the S·O·S scheduled oil sampling program. The oil change interval is based on the condition of the oil. If the S·O·S scheduled oil sampling program is not used, the oil change should be performed at 500 service hours.

  1. Position the front wheel so that the drain plug is facing downward.


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Remove the drain plug.

  1. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug.

  1. Remove the filler plug.

  1. Fill the oil compartment to the bottom of the filler plug opening. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" .

  1. Clean the filler plug and install the filler plug. Use the same procedure for the other front wheel.
