(3) 17 bolts
- Installation torque ... 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft)
- Additional torque ... 60 ± 3 degrees
Note: Perform the Adjustment Procedure For Bevel Pinion Bearings in Testing and Adjusting, "Differential and Bevel Gear - Adjust" before you install these bolts.
(4) Lubricate the bore of the pin with a small amount of the lubricant that is being sealed.
(5) 9M-5874 Shim Pack
- Shim pack thickness ... 3.30 mm (0.130 inch)
Note: See the Adjustment Procedure for the Pin in the Power Train Testing and Adjusting, "Differential and Bevel Gear - Adjust" in order to determine the number of shims to use.
(6) Shroud
(7) Lubricate the sealing lip with a small amount of the lubricant that is being sealed.
Note: Tighten screws (8) in small increments in an alternating pattern until the specified torque is held on each screw.
(8) Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the four screws. Torque for the four screws ... 28 ± 7 N·m (21 ± 5 lb ft)
(9) Torque for 24 bolts ... 530 ± 70 N·m (391 ± 52 lb ft)
(10) 8X-0368 Shim
- Quantity ... 12
- Thickness ... 0.12 mm (0.005 inch)
8X-0369 Shim
- Quantity ... 10
- Thickness ... 0.18 mm (0.007 inch)
(11) Lubricate the bore with a small amount of the lubricant that is being sealed.

(12) Use a short bolt without a spacer at the two locations over the oil ports for the differential carrier.

(13) Torque for the four bolts that hold the bearing caps to the differential carrier ... 1600 ± 150 N·m (1180 ± 110 lb ft)
Note: Tighten four bolts (12) after the adjustment of shroud (6) has been completed.
(14) Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the bolts.
(15) Adjust bracket (14) and shroud (6) in order to achieve equal clearance between shroud (6) and the bevel gear on all sides.
