PROBLEM
The steering line hose assemblies between the cab hand metering unit (HMU) and the steering flow amplifier valve need to be replaced on certain 794 AC Off-Highway Trucks. The existing hose assembly routings allow the hose assemblies to chafe against each other and can cause a hose assembly failure. |

In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 40% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Replace the hose assemblies as per listed in Table 1. Add guard to each hose assembly as per listed in Table 1. The guard for each hose assembly must be assembled starting at the hose coupling end that connects to the hand metering unit (HMU) mounted underneath the cab. The guard will extend to the first clipping point on the frame. Note: For any hose assembly observed with chafing marks or any other type of deformation upon removal: provide hose assembly part number, location dimension(s) taken from HMU hose connection end of affected area and pictures. Give the information to your Dealer Technical Communicator (TC) along with this service letter program number and CPI number 381169. Request the Dealer TC to submit the information through CPI Feedback within the Service Information Management System (SIMSi). |
