Usage:
1. Remove timing slot plug (1) and insert timing pin.
TIMING SLOT PLUG (Typical Example)
1. Plug.
2. Rotate the engine crankshaft CLOCKWISE (as viewed from front of engine) until the timing pin drops into the timing slot in the fuel pump camshaft.
3. Remove the tachometer drive adapter shaft with a 9S5031 5/8 in. Deep Well Socket.
4. Using the 9S8520 Puller Tool Group, remove the automatic timing advance unit as follows. Thread the 9S8528 Bolt Assembly into the camshaft. Do not force the bolt assembly. It should thread easily. Install the 9S8527 Bolt by threading it into the automatic timing advance unit. Then tighten the 9S8527 Bolt with a wrench until the automatic timing advance unit "pops" loose.
5. Remove the automatic timing advance unit and tool setup.

TIMING MARKS
1. If timing mark on crankshaft gear and timing mark on camshaft gear are not aligned, rotate the crankshaft CLOCKWISE (as viewed from front of engine) until timing mark on crankshaft gear is aligned with timing mark on camshaft gear.
NOTE: Apply clean engine oil (SAE 30) through openings in end plates of the automatic timing advance unit before installing on engine.
2. Position the automatic timing advance unit on the fuel injection pump camshaft.
3. Install the tachometer drive adapter shaft and tighten shaft retaining nut to 32 ± 2 lb. ft. (4.4 ± 0.3 mkg).
